1 – After several years’ experience in data, how would you define your role as Data Delivery Manager?
As Delivery Managery Data at SQORUS, I support organizations in setting up data platforms and data products, with a strong delivery dimension.
My role is to structure and manage complex data projects , while staying close to the technical issues and business challenges.
What I love about this job is being at the crossroads of strategy, technology and concrete customer impact.
2. What led you to Data and delivery management?
Initially, I was attracted by the very concrete dimension of data: transforming raw data into useful information for decision-making.
With experience, I’ve gradually moved into management roles, because I’ve come to realize that the success of a data project depends not only on the technical side, but also on structuring the delivery, coordinating the teams and aligning with the customer.
Today, this dual approach to data and delivery has become a real thread running through my career.
3. What convinced you to join SQORUS to further develop your expertise in Data Delivery Management?
What convinced me to join SQORUS was the combination of real expertise in data issues and a Council-oriented culture. I saw the opportunity to work on structuring projects for customers, while continuing to develop both a technical and strategic approach to data.
But above all, I quickly felt that the consultants were trusted and that we could make a real impact, without waiting several years.
For example, on an HR data project for a customer in the hotel sector, I had the opportunity to take on high-visibility subjects, contribute to the orientations of the data roadmap and intervene directly in key exchanges with the customer.
I felt this level of responsibility and trust very early on, and I think it’s what makes the difference on a daily basis at SQORUS.
4. What motivates you most in your current role?
What motivates me most is accompanying customers in concrete data transformations, where we can really see the impact of projects on their operations or management.
I particularly appreciate contexts where you have to structure data delivery from start to finish: define the roadmap, organize the teams and secure the value delivered.
It’s a role that requires vision, pragmatism and the ability to bring people together.
5. Have you had the opportunity to develop a new offering or methodology?
I had the opportunity to contribute to the development of an approach to the role of Data Product Owner role, which aims to structure data projects with a more product-oriented logic.
The idea is to move from a purely project or technical vision to an approach where data is conceived as a real product: with a clear vision, identified users, value indicators and an evolution roadmap.
This approach enables data, IT and business teams to be better aligned, and above all guarantees that the platforms or data products developed really do meet customers’ uses and business challenges.
6. In your opinion, what are the essential qualities needed to succeed as Data Delivery Manager at SQORUS?
For me, there are three key qualities:
- The first is the ability to understand data in depth, in order to communicate effectively with technical teams.
- The second is a sense of delivery: knowing how to structure a project, anticipate risks and secure deliveries.
- Finally, you need real communication skills to align teams, customers and business challenges.
Anthony ALVES-GIL
Delivery Manager Data
I’ve been able to grow since my arrival, both in the Council dimension and in the leadership of data projects. If I had to make that choice again today, I’d do it without hesitation.
7. Having a dual Data/Delivery role is a real asset in the field. Can you share with us a concrete example of how this made a difference on a customer project?
On some data projects, difficulties often arise from the gap between business vision and technical reality.
I experienced this on an assignment where the customer had strong ambitions around HR management and CSRD reporting, but with several heterogeneous data sources and quality constraints.
My dual role of Data / Delivery enabled me to act on two levels: on the one hand, to translate business expectations into clear, prioritized requirements, and on the other, to secure execution with the technical teams in terms of feasibility, planning and dependencies. In concrete terms, this enabled us to quickly realign stakeholders, avoid several low-priority projects and concentrate our efforts on the highest-value indicators.
The result is a clearer, better managed project, with decisions taken more quickly.
8. If you had to convince a consultant to join SQORUS, what would your arguments be?
I’d say that SQORUS is a firm where you can quickly make an impact on projects while developing real expertise.
Our assignments give us the opportunity to work on key customer projects, in close contact with the teams and decision-makers. You’re not confined to an execution role: you can propose, build and take responsibility. It’s also an environment in which you can evolve your position over time, according to your desires and strengths.
On a personal level, I’ve been able to grow even more since my arrival, both in the Council dimension and in the leadership of data projects. If I had to make that choice again today, I’d do it without hesitation.
If you’re looking for a firm where you can learn, be challenged and have a concrete impact on customers, SQORUS is clearly a great adventure to try.
