To illustrate the strength of the relationship we maintain and want to develop with our freelance partners, I brought together Kokou MOGLO, Director of Operations, and Amar ZEDAZI, freelance Solution Architect. Their heart-to-heart conversation tells the story of our collective strength: trust, mutual respect and a shared desire to create solutions that make sense.

Career paths & roles at SQORUS

Can you introduce yourself and describe your role at SQORUS?

Kokou MOGLO: I joined SQORUS in 1998, 27 years ago. It was the start of my career as a developer, and I progressed through various positions to become a partner, and today, Director of Operations.

Amar ZERDAZI: After a doctorate in computer science, specializing in information systems, I quickly moved into engineering and consulting, attracted by the direct link between technology, organization and business challenges.

Today, I work as a freelance Solution Architect. With some fifteen years’ experience, I support companies in their HR digital transformation projects.

Cabinet & independent: a shared history

How long has SQORUS been working with freelancers?

Kokou MOGLO

Operations Manager

We have always worked with freelancers, who now account for 20% of our business and play an essential role: they reinforce our agility, enrich our range of expertise and enable us to meet our customers’ challenges.

Amar: My collaboration with SQORUS began several years ago, but my history with them goes back much further. I had the pleasure of working for 9 years in-house at SQORUS (formerly Des Systèmes et des Hommes), which forged a real relationship of trust.

So when I started out as a freelancer, it was only natural that we should continue to work together.

The place of freelancers at SQORUS

How do you see their place in the company?

Kokou: They’re key to our organization, they’re our “extend team” that enables us to meet and secure certain challenges. Some of them are so integrated that they work almost exclusively for us. At the end of a project, we offer them a new challenge.

This is the case with Amar, who has been working with us for over 10 years (I’m also thinking of Dragos, Julien, Frédéric, etc.). For others, the relationship is just as long, but with more to-ing and fro-ing according to personal desires and choices.

What made you want to work with SQORUS?

Amar: I didn’t even ask myself the question, as the choice was so obvious to me. SQORUS puts people at the heart of its projects, and‘People & Solutions That Matter‘ is more than just an intention.

Even as a freelancer in a consulting firm, you’re fully integrated, listened to and considered. There’s a real culture of respect, transparency and quality of service.

The SQORUS approach is both demanding and caring, which fits in perfectly with my way of working. I knew I’d find people who were competent, responsive and willing to listen, which is essential if we are to build a long-term relationship based on trust.

Types of freelance assignments & expertise

How do you see the role of freelancers evolving in the face of new market challenges?

Kokou: We’re witnessing a twofold evolution that is reinforcing the importance of freelancing. On the one hand, the relationship with work is changing, and more and more people are turning to freelancing. On the other, our customers are demanding greater flexibility, with projects requiring increasingly specialized and diversified expertise, often to tight deadlines.

In this context, freelancers have become essential.

What kind of assignments have you worked on for SQORUS as a freelancer?

Amar: I’ve had the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of assignments, mainly involving the implementation, roll-out and upgrading of HRIS solutions such as SAP SuccessFactors. This includes scoping, design, parameterization and change management phases, as well as post-deployment support, often in international contexts, projects where functional complexity mingles with cultural challenges.

I’ve always found it stimulating to work in dynamic, challenging environments, and SQORUS and its customers have served me well.

My career with SQORUS reflects this diversity of assignments. My first assignment was as an ERP/SaaS systems integration consultant.

I then moved into a Tech/Deployment lead role, where I was responsible for the overall technical coherence of the projects I managed. My role was to supervise developers and technical consultants, guarantee the quality of deliverables, and act as the main point of contact on technological aspects.

As Project Lead, I extended my responsibilities to include project management: scoping, planning, budget tracking, leading committees, coordinating internal and external teams.

I then took on the role of Integration Architect for another customer, where I was in charge of designing the technical architectures andintegration flowsbetween the various HRIS bricks and internal information systems. I was involved in all aspects of security, performance and data governance. This was a key role in guaranteeing the robustness and scalability of the solutions deployed.

Finally, I moved on to my current role as Solution Architect in a completely different sector, where I’m involved upstream of projects, right from the scoping phase.

The aim is to offer comprehensive HRIS solutions, aligned with both business needs and technical constraints.

The added value of freelance x SQORUS collaboration

What is a freelancer’s main contribution to an assignment?

Kokou: The main contribution of a freelancer in a consulting firm is to complement our expertise and added value by reinforcing our ability to execute, but also by bringing another viewpoint to our approach and our challenges.

What do you appreciate most about this collaboration?

Amar: The quality of the exchanges and the fluidity of the collaboration. The teams are available, organized and committed. With SQORUS, I work with confidence and as part of a team.

As a freelancer, it’s reassuring to feel integrated without ever feeling isolated. There’s also a real attention to detail in managing assignments, communicating with customers and supporting consultants. This rigor, combined with a relaxed atmosphere, makes working together a real pleasure.

A successful collaboration

Can you give us an example of a successful collaboration?

Kokou: It’s hard to name just one, but Amar is a good example: our collaboration has enabled him to progress and helped us to grow, each time taking on new challenges.

What’s your proudest memory or mission?

Amar: There are many strong memories, but one in particular stands out for me. One day, an account manager called me to tell me about a strategic opportunity: an assignment for a new customer. The context was particular: it was the very beginning of the era of Cloud and SaaS solutions, and very few of us had any real expertise in these emerging technologies.

Nevertheless, I accepted the challenge. We met with the customer and presented our approach, with a great deal of transparency, listening and agility. I had the honor of being the first consultant to take on the project.

The customer was aware of both my strengths and my technical limitations when it came to these new solutions. I was proud that we had succeeded in convincing him, and grateful to SQORUS for their confidence. Now all we had to do was keep our promises.

This was the start of a wonderful adventure. Not only did we build up our expertise in this innovative solution, but we also won the trust of the customer, who, as the months went by, extended our scope to an international project. For me, this project remains a true symbol of the boldness, responsiveness and mutual trust that are the strength of our collaboration.

Beyond skills: the SQORUS Tribe spirit

What qualities do you look for in a freelancer who works with SQORUS?

Kokou: Over and above his professional qualities, I expect him to commit to the promise made to our customer, to explain any difficulties that may arise so that we can support him, and to keep us informed of project news so that we can anticipate any impact on our commitments.

What drives you in your profession and what values do you consider essential in your collaboration with SQORUS?

Amar: What fascinates me is the way HRIS tools can simplify processes, while reinforcing the efficiency and human dimension of HR functions.

I’m also very attached to the quality of customer relations and teamwork, which I consider essential to the success of any assignment. My ambition is to make a concrete contribution to each project, in a constructive and lasting collaboration.
