Modernization of an operations management application for SNCF with Oracle APEX
Reconciling Cloud and legacy systems: a major challenge for our customer, who needed to modernize the management of its ERP operations. SQORUS supported SCNF in this transformation.
The challenge
Modernizing ERP management in the face of cloud and legacy systems
SNCF has an ERP used by 25,000 daily users, based on a 20-year database and 15 years of history. With the opening to competition, a new Cloud ERP was added to the existing system.
To make these two environments cohabit, SNCF needed suitable tools to supervise and manage the various ERP deployment operations.
The existing management tool, a complex Excel file, posed several problems:
- Tool developed by employees who are no longer with us
- Accessible to steering team only
- Frequent saturation and file blocking
- Ineffective communication between players (hundreds of e-mails sent)
- Difficulty coordinating stakeholders (up to a hundred people)

Develop a steering application to manage technical operations
Modernization was therefore essential to simplify operations management and make them more reliable.
It was designed to meet three key challenges:

- Time: with only three people involved, the challenge was to design, test and deliver an operational solution in record time.
- Flexibility: the application had to adapt to both light maintenance (small-scale TMA) and complex, large-scale management plans.
- Rationalization: the aim was to optimize processes, centralize information and improve coordination between all players for smoother, more efficient management.
The aim of the project was to design, test and deploy in three months a solution capable of managing both one-off operations and large-scale intervention plans.
The main objective was to create a centralized, real-time control application capable of managing all technical and application operations, improving coordination between teams and reducing email exchanges for smoother, more collaborative operation.
The SQORUS solution
A collaborative solution for real-time data management
SQORUS developed an application on Oracle APEX, chosen for its compatibility with the SNCF environment and its ability to integrate data from Excel.
1.drawing design
Creation of a complete tree structure integrating interdependencies between action groups and tasks.
2. Rationalization of reference systems
Creation and centralization of databases to promote reuse and consistency of information.
3. Configuration
Set up simple table-based parameterization with notions of predecessors, hierarchies and task launch conditions.
4. Control and automation :
- Action tracking, automatic notifications
- Continuous adjustment to actual progress
5. Validation and follow-up
Possibility of commenting, validating and revising plans at every stage to guarantee reliability and continuity of management.
The application enables :
- Hierarchical structure (plans, action groups, tasks, dependencies)
- Real-time monitoring of forecast and actual durations
- An automatic notification system for task tracking
- An overview for management teams
- Optimized management of access rights
- Adapting to different work rhythms
- Dynamic recalculation of times according to progress
