Finding your rhythm at an HRIS consulting firm isn’t something you can just wing. Between the technical nature of the topics, the pace of the assignments, and the attitude required from the very first days, the work-study program is as demanding as it is educational.

At SQORUS, every journey reveals unexpected paths that shape the best consultants.

So rather than telling you about it, we asked Celia BUNEL, an HRIS consultant trainee in our HR Division for the past 9 months.

With a bachelor’s degree in economics and social sciences and a degree in military human resources management, it was through her daily work with SAP that she came to understand the potential of digital tools to improve HR processes and the employee experience. This revelation prompted her to return to school at an institution specializing in computer science, to further develop her dual expertise in HR and IT.

His journey is unlike any other, and that’s exactly what we love about SQORUS.

What if the next story were yours?

1. What made you choose SQORUS over another firm to get started in HRIS consulting?

I was impressed by SQORUS’s clear positioning and the vision its teams embody. My conversations with the recruiters at the Career Meeting were very natural and constructive—it really reinforced my desire to join the company!

For my first experience in HRIS consulting, it was important to me to join an environment where I could learn under the right conditions: being given responsibility while being well supported. Also, the fact that the company is certified by Great Place To Work certification for several years reinforced my decision.

2. How did your first few months with us go?

My first few months were structured around an onboarding program designed to help me become more independent. I first took a in-house training course with other employees for two weeks, supplemented by practical exercises to help us become familiar with the tools and methods.

I found it motivating to work as part of a team right from the very first weeks!

After that, I studied the available resources while maintaining regular communication with my managers and colleagues. Then I gradually began working with clients: first by observing and participating in supervised tasks, then performing independent testing activities, and eventually moving on to functional analysis tasks for large-scale projects!

3. How would you describe the role of an HRIS consultant to someone who has never heard of the term?

When people ask me this question, I simplify it by saying that the HRIS consultanthelps companies choose, configure, and implement HR software tailored to their needs. At first glance, it’s not the kind of job that 10-year-olds dream of, like being a firefighter or an astronaut.

Yet even though he doesn’t wear a helmet, the HRIS consultant performs daily rescue operations: working as part of a team, he keeps the cogs of massive chains running smoothly so that each link, at its own level, can work more comfortably and save time in its day-to-day tasks.

4. What kind of project are you currently working on? What motivates you to put your energy into it?

I am currently working with a client on the post-deployment stabilization and optimization phase of a performance management tool. Our role is to assist the client company’s HR departments as they learn to use the software.

It’s a very dynamic project with lots of updates and feature requests to explore and test. What motivates me to get involved is the collective enthusiasm surrounding this project, but also the pace, the problem-solving, and the learning curve!

Today, I can fully commit to my work independently while being supported by a community of experts and managers who help ensure my growth…

5. What qualities or attitudes have really helped you fit in and make progress?

My adaptability is a major asset. A consultant must know how to navigate the political landscape of organizations while defusing potential tensions. To that end, I have decided to cultivate a conciliatory approach: seeking solutions to break deadlocks while remaining firm on objectives.

It is important to treat everyone with the same level of high standards and respect, regardless of their role, title, or position in the hierarchy. Being open-minded, accommodating, socially adept, and empathetic are qualities that have helped me integrate into the team and advance in my career.

In addition, my enthusiasm for exploring new software and features on a computer is one of my strengths when joining an HRIS project.

6. In your opinion, what are SQORUS’s main strengths when it comes to supporting young talent in developing their skills and advancing their careers?

Having access to a wide range of projects and experiences, involving various technologies and tools, is a real strength: in two years as a work-study student, you can gain 3 to 6 different experiences and quickly acquire a variety of skills!

At SQORUS, there is a culture of feedback and mentoring. We are“coached”by our mentor or tutor, and we quickly become aware of our strengths and weaknesses.

We also find a strong culture of innovation there, where taking the initiative is encouraged: we stay abreast of current issues and market trends in the technology sector.

7. Today, can you envision your future career path at SQORUS?

Today, I can fully commit to my work independently while being supported by a community of experts and managers who ensure my professional growth.

This isn’t just a work-study program—it’s the first chapter of a career in the HRIS ecosystem, built on trust and knowledge sharing. I’m looking forward to the future and feel fully supported!

8. If you had to convince a prospective HRIS intern or work-study student to join SQORUS, what would be your three most compelling arguments?

  • At SQORUS, with the support of your managers, you ’ll be able to develop a hybrid skill set that bridges the gap between business and IT—and that’s incredibly valuable these days!
  • You’ll have plenty of opportunities: projects with well-known clients, certifications for powerful tools, and the chance to meet a wide variety of colleagues with diverse backgrounds!
  • If you join the team, it won’t be to perform mundane tasks or endure overwhelming pressure, but to work on a variety of projects that will help you grow, allin a collaborative environment.

Join a great place to work

Your career at SQORUS is more than just a job, it’s an opportunity to grow professionally and personally in an environment where individual development contributes to the growth of the whole.
