HRIS: a set of tools
The human resources information system brings together all the tools needed to manage human resources, from recruitment to training and career management.
It is composed of a multitude of software bricks whose purpose is to automate the execution and monitoring of a certain number of processes. They naturally concern personnel administration (leave, balance consultation, expense reports, etc.), but also employee time and activity management, collaborative tools, skills and career management, and training (management of registrations, convocations and certifications, as well as e-learning platforms).
The role of the HRISproject manager
The Human Resources Department expresses its needs concerning the tools it wishes to put in place. The Information Systems Department(ISD) is responsible for the development and integration of these tools within the information systems.
The HRIS project manager acts as projectmanager, liaising between the needs expressed by the HR Department and their implementation by the IS Department.
In this role, he or she is responsible for project management, sub-project division, resource selection, budget and schedule monitoring and compliance. The HRIS project manager monitors the progress of the mission, the work of each person and the progress of all deliverables. He participates in the main meetings and workshops and leads the steering committees that bring together members of the HR and IT departments. It has the possibility of involving one or more HRIS consultants, in order to provide assistance both in the expression of needs and in their translation by the development teams.
Finally, the HRIS project manager is responsible for arbitrating the various decisions that may be taken during the project. He/she must ensure the quality of the work done and the deliverables, while supervising the implementation of the tools developed at the end of the project.
