Oracle launched version 24.7 of Visual Builder Studio (VBCS) in April 2024, bringing a host of improvements and new features. This article will give you an overview of the most important new features for DevOps teams, web application visuals and extensions.
Optimize your DevOps workflow with new VBCS features
- It is now possible to specify a waiting time before a manual approval automatically expires.
- You can display the rules that apply to a job or pipeline.
- The advanced Git options in the task configuration allow you to define the cloning depth, which you can use to specify the number of commits to be recovered during cloning.
- VBCS has adopted a new tool for processing and displaying markdown, which ensures that elements such as titles, lists, links, etc. are rendered uniformly and consistently throughout the application’s user interface.
- Users entering Merge Requests (MR) comments can use a new toolbar
Create modern, customized web applications
When you create a new web application using the default template, you can now customize the application theme to display components on a dark background, instead of the default light background and dark text.
You can even let your users choose between a light and dark theme.
Easily deploy and manage your Oracle VBCS extensions
- You can now deploy your extension directly in your development environment without using CI/CD pipelines.
- When using the Edit Page option in Visual Builder Studio to customize Oracle Cloud Applications, it is now possible to isolate extensions by product family (pillar) in separate workspaces and repositories.
- Dependencies are now grouped by pillar in the Dependencies pane.
- Support for selecting field values from list-of-values (LOV).
- The condition generator for business rules and validation messages now supports parameters defined in the $objectContext.
- Support for creating sections in containers.
